Trojans

A Trojan horse is a program that works in a way that the user does not expect it to.

It differs from a virus in that it does not replicate itself.

Don't execute programs you receive as email attachments
unless you're expecting the file and you know the sender.

A Trojan horse is defined as:

A destructive program that masquerades as a benign application.  Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses onto your computer. The term come from a story in Homer's Iliad, in which the Greeks give a giant wooden horse to their foes, the Trojans, ostensibly as a peace offering.  But after the Trojans drag the horse inside their city walls, Greek soldiers sneak out of the horse's hollow belly and open the city gates, allowing their compatriots to pour in and capture Troy.

TROJANS are client programs with various names which is run on a remote computer to gain access to any computer connected to a TCP/IP network or the Internet.    An executable server program is required to be installed on the victim's computer to permit the remote site access to the victim's computer in a manner similar to Cult of the Dead Cow's "Back Orifice" program. As is the case with "Back Orifice," this program exploits security vulnerabilities in the Windows95 and Windows98 platform and does not function on Windows NT systems at the time of this advisory. Reported delivery modes include transfer through IRC and AOL chat rooms,CU-SeeMe, email file attachments, exploits of security holes in browsers, email programs and physical installation on machines.
