INSTALLING PMATRIX CODEC (Mjpeg)
For Windows 98
A self extracting .exe archive is downloaded. Run (double click) the M3JPEG.exe and move/expand into a directory of your choosing. I suggest making a folder named Morgan under the C:\
There will be 4 folders after unzipping : Doc, MMTray, Win9x, and WinNT
The following is a visual guide on installing the codec step by step
Step 1
Click on Start Button, Scroll to Settings, Select Control Panel

Step 2
Select Add New HARDWARE

Step 3
Begin Install Wizard Click NEXT

Step 4
Windows 98 will attempt to look for the Hardware to Install Click NEXT

Step 5
Win98 will find some hardware and ask you if this is what you want it installed. Check "No, the device isn't on the list" and click NEXT

Step 6
Windows will now search for hardware that is
not Plug and Pray, tell it "No, I want to select the hardware from a list" and
click NEXT

Step 7
At the hardware type dialog, select "Sound, video, and game controllers"
Click on it to Highlight
Click NEXT

Step 8
When presented with the manufacturers/model dialog, select "Have disk".

Step 9
Browse for the directory you expanded the codec into

Step 10
Select the OEMSETUP.INF file
This should already be highlighted. Click OK

Step 11
and OK in the "Install from disk" dialog
Step 12
Click OK when "Morgan Multimedia MJPEG Codec " is displayed.

Step 13
If any dialogs asking to use a current or the
new version
of PMJPEG32.DLL are displayed, select NEW
otherwise
Click finish to copy and install the codec files.

The new software M-JPEG codec is now installed and ready for use. Windows 98 asks to restart your computer.
Our experience is this is not needed to use the new codec. If you experience problems, then go ahead and restart.

This codec can be custom configured. Go to the folder where you expanded your codec and find the MMTray folder and click to open. You will find MMtray.exe. Double click on it to execute. It will now appear in your task bar. Click on it. A configuration panel will appear:

I have found that disabling (unchecking) the MMX
improves your CPU performance. Above is how I configure the codec for my CU
setup. There is an install.htm in the folder that will help you with
information on codec settings or you can click here
and view it on my
website.
