Video Streaming Problem with USB Cameras

NOTE: This document is intended for use with version 3.1.2  of the CU-SeeMe software. If you are using an earlier version, please upgrade at http://www.wpine.com.

Some Symptoms:

Camera:       Quits Functioning in CU-SeeMe after a short time*

Video:           Slow to open when clicked on
Chat:             Typing is slow to respond or chat appears to come in slow
Your video:  Freezes

*This issue typically occurs anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes into a call. The symptoms include the camera image going black or freezing. In most situations the camera's light will also turn off. This means that the camera will no longer be accessible by any application until the system has been rebooted. Although it's possible to continue in the conference room, the camera will no longer be sending video.

In order to resolve this issue, the streaming ability of CU-SeeMe must be disabled. This can be done by editing a setting in the Registry. Use the following instructions to complete this task:

This document is written with the assumption that the user has a general understanding of basic Windows® 98 commands in order to perform the procedures detailed below.

However, different system configurations often require different procedures to perform these actions. It is beyond the scope of this document to provide all the necessary information to perform all the procedures mentioned on all possible system configurations. For assistance with these procedures, please consult the Microsoft Windows 98 manual, or online help system.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to solve some issues, this document makes references to editing the Windows 98 Registry. For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" on-line Help topic in Registry Editor
