DIAL-UP NETWORKING

"Dial-Up Networking could not negotiate a compatible set of
network protocols you specified in the Server Type settings.
Check your network configuration in the Control Panel then try
the connection again."

The Dial-Up Networking connection you are trying to use is damaged.
Delete and reinstall a new connection.

 

1.   Double-click the My Computer icon.

2.   Double-click the Dial-Up Networking folder.

3.   Delete the connection/dialer in question.


4.   Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

5.   Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing, pick a name for it.

6.   Click the Configure button.

7.   Select the appropriate port speed for your modem.  

       For 14.4 modems use 19200
       For 28.8
       For 38400 and for 56k use 57600.

8.    Make sure that         Only connect at this speed is not checked.

9.    Click the OK button.

10.  Click the Next button.

11.  In the Area code and Telephone number text boxes,
       type your local Provider access number.
       Remember to check with your local telephone company,
       to make sure that the number you choose is a local toll-free call.

12.  Click the Next button.

13.  Click the Finish button.

14.  Right click on the icon you just created.  It is found in the Dial-up Networking folder.

15.  From the File menu bar, choose Properties.

16.  Click/select  the Server Type tab.

17.  Uncheck Log on to network.
18.  Uncheck NetBEUI.
19.  Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.
20.  Click the OK button to complete your new dialer
