ICQ HISTORY  		(ICQ 2001b and newer retains the contact list but not the chat history) 
				So if you want to keep any of it....save it first
CONTACT List		(if you do not use version 2001 or newer then save the DB files)

.doc files 			(Word files)
.xlc files 			(Excel Files)
.txt files 			(Notepad files)
.crd files 			(if you use the cardfile program you need to backup any .crd files)
.wav's 			(back up any wavs you added other than windows default)

Email files 		Your emails as well as your address book
My Documents 		Backup a copy of that folder
AOL Buddy List 	(File/Save Buddy List)
Desktop 			Anything you have saved on the desktop
Pictures 			Don't forget all those pictures you need to save
jpgs
gifs
tifs
bmps
Bookmarks 		IE bookmarks (Export feature on IE)
				Go to Netscape folder and save the User folder)
Network Card 		Take a snap of how your network card is setup
				I make a capture of how my network card is setup and save for future references

 
Music Back up any music you have downloaded

  .wav
Webshare 			If you create webpages you need to save all your .html and pictures
Winamp Skins 		I save and bookmark in IE what skins I have installed
Winzip 			windows does not come installed with winzip

 

Install/Add CHECKLIST    

I install in this order...As I have found that installs go smoother installing certain software first. 
Print the checklist and tick off as you install each item.  

DO reboot after each install. THIS is a must


.cab files I 				copy the .cab files from the windows install disk on c:\Win98, 
					this way when it asks you do put in Windows98 disc 
					you can just direct it to c:\Win98. Saves you having to look for the Windows disk.
